Minister urges involvement in Care Framework consultation

Scottish Government Minister for Public Health & Sport, Aileen Campbell MSP, has called on health and social care professionals, NHS Boards and social care providers throughout the country to get involved in the consultation on the National Care Framework for Huntington’s Disease.

Ms Campbell said:

“The Scottish Government warmly welcomes Scottish Huntington’s Association’s work to develop a National Care Framework for Huntington’s Disease that aims to help bring consistency to standards of care, information and support provided to families throughout the country. I would strongly urge health and social care providers and professionals to engage in the current consultation to help shape this important piece of work.

“The Scottish Government has, so far, provided £120,000 to support this three-year project. There is growing support for the view that this care framework has the potential to be used as a model for other neurological conditions, and I look forward to seeing how this exciting prospect develops.

“The collaborative approach used to develop the care framework is very much in line with the Scottish Government’s National Clinical Strategy, which sets out our blueprint for health and social care. The strategy will help us deliver transformational change across our NHS, provide services more aligned to patients’ wishes, and reduce variation in patient outcomes across Scotland.”

The consultation on the National Care Framework for Huntington’s Disease remains open until 9 December 2016.
