It’s not every day you have your name put on a nine-tonne truck but for Business Support Assistant Louise McMinn it was a very pleasant surprise!
This was just one of the ways that the family-run haulage company A & D Logistics in Linwood decided to welcome her as a new member of staff, naming one of their new trucks Louise’s Pride!
Louise had already established a strong working relationship with the firm in her previous role at Chivas, where she worked for 20 happy years.
There had been the joke that if you get your name on a truck then you make a donation to charity, so this was taken literally! The donation was combined with the kind leaving present from her colleagues at Chivas and a gift from A & D Logistics to make a total of £1000 to Scottish Huntington’s Association.
Colleagues in Chivas raised awareness of Huntington’s disease (HD) which was why SHA was chosen. Knowing it is a cruel disease, and one that is not particularly well known or understood, Louise was happy to have the opportunity to help raise awareness.
Louise’s colleagues old and new have been brilliant and she really appreciates their kindness – she is sure they will be happy for her gift to be donated to the Scottish Huntington’s Association, where we know it will be put to good use helping families in Renfrewshire and across Scotland who are impacted by HD.
