Celebrating our longest serving colleagues
Three members of staff have been recognised for their long service to Scottish Huntington’s Association and the families we support.

Paula McFadyen, Senior HD Specialist for Tayside has worked for Scottish Huntington’s Association for 21 years; Nicola Johns, Senior HD Specialist for Fife has 20 years’ service; and Jillian Foster, National Senior HD Specialist, is now in her 25th year.
“When I started with the Fife Service in 2000, never did I think I would be here all these years later,” said Jillian.
“The organisation looked very different then with only one specialist in each area where we had an HD Specialist service. There was no Youth Service and no Financial Wellbeing Service. Since then services have expanded and the drive from the team remains, while the hope that there will be a cure or treatment for this condition continues.”
Paula added: “I started in 2003 and right away I knew I was going to love it. Most of what I have learned about Huntington’s disease over the years has come from the families themselves. Their strength, resilience and ability to laugh, even in some of the most challenging times, is truly inspiring.”
“Working in the Fife Service has been incredible – as a registered nurse I love the autonomy and constant development working within the Huntington’s community. I also enjoy the research aspect and am proud that the Enroll-HD clinic has remained a constant for around 18 years, attracting over 80 participants,” said Nicola.
Chief Executive Alistair Haw said: “This is an incredible achievement from three wonderful colleagues who have shown so much dedication to our community over many years. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done and achieved for Huntington’s families.”
