Family Gathering achieves a near perfect score
“A fantastic day from a superb charity. Scottish Huntington’s Association has been amazing support to us over the years, thank you.”
Just one of the hugely positive messages from people who joined us at our biggest ever Family Gathering last Saturday – and one of our most successful with a brilliant 9.7 out of 10 overall rating from family members.
We welcomed 175 attendees to the voco Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow for a wonderful day of learning, friendship, emotion, connection and support. The well-attended morning and afternoon workshops included Make Some Noise!; Movement and Function; Supporting Communication and Swallowing; Psychological Strategies for People Affected by Huntington’s Disease; and Past, Present and Future of Genetic Testing.
These were followed by a superb research update from Professor Åsa Petersén, Deputy Chair, European Huntington’s Disease Network (EHDN), and closing remarks by Joint Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Professor Emerita Lorna Milne.
We are grateful to our staff, guest speakers, workshop hosts, trustees, our Patron Sarah Winckless MBE, and, most importantly, everyone, including members of our three branches, who attended and helped to make the event such an outstanding success.
Thank you to our sponsors
We thank the sponsors of this year’s Family Gathering – Roche, EHDN, Skyhawk Therapeutics, uniQure, Wave Life Sciences and Ferrer – who made it possible to hold such a wonderful event.
