Competition Rules

Eligibility
1. The competition is open to everyone, but there are two categories; sixteen and under and over sixteen. You must select one of these categories when you enter.
2. You may submit as many entries to the competition as you wish.

Format
3. Your entry must be no more than 150 words. All entries greater than this will be rejected without refund.
4. Your entry must be poetry. It cannot be any other literary form.
5. You must enter using the form provided on www.hdscotland.org.
6. Entries will not be accepted in any other way e.g. email, postal entries.
7. Your entry must be about Huntington’s disease and all entries that do not relate to the condition will be rejected and your fee will not be refunded.

Fees
8. Entries for the sixteen and under category are free.
9. Each entry for the sixteen and over category will cost £5.00.
10. If you breach the terms and conditions of the competition, your fee will not be refunded.
11. Fees can be refunded if you decide to withdraw your entry.
12. No entry will be considered unless the applicable fee has been received.

Prizes
13. For the sixteen and over category 1st prize is £250, 2nd prize is £150 and 3rd prize is £50. Each placed winner will also receive a framed copy of their entry.
14. For the sixteen and under category 1st prize is £50, 2nd prize is £25 and 3rd prize is £10. Each placed winner will also receive a framed copy of their entry.

Judging
15. All entries will be scored out of ten points for creativity, impact and relevance. The top twenty entries will be judged by Valerie Gillies.
16. The decision of the judge is final.

Competition opening and closing dates
17. The competition opens on the 18th September 2017 at 9.00am and closes on the 30th November 2017 at 12.00pm.
18. No entries will be accepted after the closing date.

Notification.
19. All winners will be notified within one month of the closing date by email.
