Buddie Linda Winters is on top of the world after accomplishing a breathtaking Himalayan trek for charity.
Intrepid Linda, 49, journeyed with two pals to the spectacular mountain range in Nepal, and raised more than £7,000 for Scottish Huntington’s Association (SHA) and Diabetes UK.
Proud Buddie Linda, who works as a fundraiser at Paisley-based SHA, undertook the gruelling eight-day trek in the stunning Annapurna region.
She said: “We completed the Poon Hill trek, reaching 3,210 metres, and raised, as a team, over £7,000.
“It was an amazing experience, but not without its challenges.
“The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. It was stunning.
“The people were beautiful. The resilience of the Nepalese people is humbling and how they pull together as a community during difficult times is inspiring.
“They really are tremendous.
“I would highly recommend others to visit the Himalayas and enjoy a beautiful part of the world.”
And her achievement is even more impressive as she and her pals Marie Short, 45, from Polmont, near Falkirk, and Sharon Kinning, 45, from Lockerbie, all self-funded their walk in the heavens.
And because her job involves her motivating and supporting more people to get involved in doing their bit for charity, the mountain trek has made a deep impression on her.
She added: “I took it all in my stride. I just got on with it. It was a case of putting one foot in front of the other.
“But because I enjoyed the experience so much, it has given me a mind to try something like this again, perhaps with a bigger group, and to go on another trek.”
And Linda is thanking everyone who donated cash, but is hoping to smash the group’s £8,000 target so she can hand over as much cash as possible to the good causes.
She said: “I was hoping to see a few more donations coming in as raising every penny possible is what it is all about.
“But I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far and would welcome any further donations.”
