Are you looking for a speaker?
The Scottish Huntington’s Association would like the opportunity to visit your group to tell your members about Huntington’s disease. Huntington’s disease is a hugely stigmatised and poorly understood condition. Many families living with HD find that they are challenged as much from the stigma as from the illness itself. This is something we want to change. Our speakers will visit your group free of charge and offer a lively, informative and positive look at HD, and how discover how ordinary people are meeting extraordinary challenges to fight the disease.
Our speakers include people who have been diagnosed as carriers of the gene that causes HD, people who have family members living with from HD and professionals working for the Association. All of them are highly knowledgeable on the subject and can talk widely about everything from the discovery of HD – a kind of medical mystery story – to the science behind it, to the work that organisations such as Scottish Huntington’s Association are doing to combat the ravages of HD while we continue to hope for a cure. The talk can be anything from 10 – 60 minutes, and we can travel to your group, wherever you are in on mainland Scotland.
